The Parable of A Dumb Prophet: Church And Politics In Ebony State
Ebonyi State is still on fire. In particular, the State is on fire because the people who are in the position to and should have quietly called the attention of Governor Martin Elechi to his dictatorial tendencies chose to fiddle around and/or pamper him until he became completely impervious to criticism and insensitive to the people’s afflictions and subsequent lamentations. The Parable of a Dumb Prophet is the author’s own story of Nigeria, of Ebonyi State, of his dogged effort to make those who are comfortable and complacent to look down from their lofty social, political and economic pedestals to see and feel the afflictions of millions of their fellow Nigerians, particularly Ebonyians, who have been compelled by hard times to perch on the fringes of life and to lose hope in their country and their state. He says that if it is not too late for Governor Elechi to know that his real enemies are the professional sycophants and some men of God who cluster around him for some stray largesse. For the common good of the people of Ebonyi State, it is the author’s prayer that those who will rule the State after him should endeavour to know those real enemies and be wary of them to ensure that they do not lure them into turning the dreams of our forefathers into a nightmare.
