If any Nigerian leader ever came to power riding on the crest of unprecedented goodwill from the Nigerian populace who yearned for democracy only to settle down and pull the nation back to dictatorship, it is President Olusegun Obasanjo. He is presiding over a democracy that is tainted by all the obnoxious attributes of mindless military dictatorship and has thus crippled the nation’s economy and dehumanized the people through its anti-people policies, leaving behind its trail a visible caricature of our lofty hopes and aspirations. The Lamentations of a Lost Generation is a soul-searching exposition of the conflicts, the doubts, the depressions, the questions, the anger and the entreaties that go on in the innermost recesses of our hearts as a result of the great damage our leaders have done to us and to our nation.
