Living in the Shadows of Death: Nigerian's Descent into Ethnic Conquest

Living in the Shadows of Death: Nigerian's Descent into Ethnic Conquest

Our dear country is under terrorist siege. In February this year, 2025, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, told Nigerians to rise up, mobilise and defend themselves from terrorist attacks because the military, the police and other intelligence agencies cannot defend every community from terrorist attacks. We are therefore living in dangerous times. If the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police that are fully equipped with sophisticated weapons and are known to be professional and gallant cannot defend our communities from terrorist attacks, how possible is it for the communities that do not have even rudimentary weapons to effectively defend themselves? We are familiar with the phrase, “Nero fiddled while Rome burned.” It is a phrase which describes leaders that are indifferent or that are preoccupied with trivial issues while a serious crisis is either brewing or has already overwhelmed their nations. It is a metaphor for leadership failure and misplacement of priorities. It is a clarion call to duty for leaders who fail to take needful and prompt action in the face of serious crisis. Currently, our political leaders, beginning from Bola Ahmed Tinubu down to our local government chairmen are busy strategizing for 2027 elections while the Fulani jihadists are busy surrounding every nook and cranny of Nigeria in readiness to overrun Nigeria. We must wake up! This book raises a strident alarm, calling on the appropriate authorities to act and save Nigeria and Nigerians before it is too late.
