On Saturday, May 2, 2015, I had an august visitor that I least expected in my village where I live and manage a secondary school in the person of the famed Prof. Egwu U. Egwu, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, and currently the Special Director of Entrepreneurship Development Centre in the same university. I had on a few occasions listened to him speak on a number of issues affecting Nigeria in general and Ebonyi State in particular. Without his knowing it, I have, from the day I met him first, reserved my highest respect for him. I discovered that without my knowing it, he also has been admiring what he described as my forthrightness and insistence that we should allow truth and justice to prevail in all circumstances. The object of his mission to Ngbo was to inform me that the members of the 2015 Inauguration Lecture of Ebonyi State Government, under his leadership, had decided that I be invited to give the year’s inaugural lecture. I delivered the lecture at the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki. It is published here as a book for the interest of those who appreciate my modest contributions to ensure that the sufferings of the masses are reduced in Nigeria in general and in Ebonyi State in particular.
