Ebonyi State is currently on fire. We can engage ourselves in fierce debates as to who set it on fire without reaching a consensus. Nevertheless, what is clear, what no logic can dispute or disprove is the fact that it is burning under the close watch of Chief Martin Elechi who is currently the serving governor of the State. This book is the chronicle of the author’s repeated pleas for caution against the harmful socio-economic policies and the volatile political ingredients that combined to generate the current crisis in Ebonyi State. It is said that those who refuse to learn from history will invariably end up by giving history the cause to construct monuments of ruin with their names. The author believes that the beautiful dream of the people of Ebonyi State has been turned into a nightmare by a leadership that is deaf, blind and insensitive to the people’s legitimate yearnings. He has therefore vowed to remain vocal as long as that dream remains a nightmare.
